About Hunsdon Ducklings Preschool
Pre-School
Hunsdon Ducklings Pre-School was opened in 1995 and is a Registered Charity (No. 1042209) with a Constitution approved by the Charities Commission and the Pre-School Learning Alliance. We are a committee run, non-profit making organisation.
We hold sessions in a dedicated Portacabin classroom to the rear of the Hunsdon School site and have access to the school playground for outdoor play, weather permitting. You can find us through the school pedestrian access gate. We have access for people with disabilities.
We received a Good Ofsted inspection in May 2010 and follow the EYFS curriculum and covering all 6 areas. We cater for children with SEN (Special Educational Needs) and have a SEN Coordinator.
We welcome Childcare Voucher Schemes. Please see our ofsted report
Committee
Our Committee of volunteer parents manages the pre-school. They are elected each year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The Committee is responsible for setting and collecting fees, employing and paying staff, providing premises and equipment, implementing and overseeing policies & procedures, ensuring the safety of the children and the quality of care and learning experiences provided. Regular fundraising is essential to top-up the income from fees and ensure the viability of the group in the long-term. Parental involvement is fully welcomed and sought.
Our links with Hunsdon JMI School
Most of the children, although not all, progress to Hunsdon JMI School following the Pre-school. In order to foster links to ensure a smooth transition for all the children who are rising 4, there are weekly visits to the Early Entry and Nursery class for a group story and for Music and Movement. Pre-school staff accompany the children for these visits.
